Goodbye Macy’s, Hello . . . ?

It’s the last hurrah for Macy’s Downtown.  No Lazarus, no Marshall Fields, no Jacobsens, no major department store anywhere near downtown.  We went the last few days of clearance sales and there was very little of any itnerest left.  Deals could be had on rugs and runners and I could have used a 16 foot […]

The Strip of Hip opens to 2-way traffic

Gay Street and the City of Columbus have wrapped a nearly $8 million project spanning six months that opens Gay Street to two-way traffic.  It seems like a long, long time ago, the West side of Gay street was supposed to be involved in that project also.  I don’t like that it dead ends at […]

Still, only FIVE homes were closed on in September […]

When does Your Downtown Columbus Condo Tax Abatement Begin?

Surprise, It’s not the day you purchase your Columbus condo.
It’s the day the developer gets the certificate of occupancy for the entire project or a block of units in the project.  The other day I wondered aloud what will happen when all the tax abatement given for the downtown condos begin to run out.  […]

Is the Downtown Columbus Condo Market a Ticking Timebomb?

Will the Downtown Columbus Condominium Market implode in the next 8–10 years?  Ironically, I’m talking about tax abatements, one of Downtown Columbus’ Best Residential drawing cards which could also lead to a very messy real estate market as they begin to expire.
Think about this.  A major attraction to purchasing a home downtown would be the 75 or […]
